What an amazing day we had yesterday! So many of you stepped up to participate in Scholarship Day of Giving. We surpassed our goal of 750 donors, crossing the finish line in 24 hours with 814 donors. Thanks to you, we raised more than $143,000 -- all for student scholarships through the Hope Fund. Today on campus, many students and employees will be celebrating the success of Scholarship Day of Giving. But first, a few of our students would like to say "thank you."

You are invited to join us as this spirit of celebration and gratitude continues during Alumni Weekend, Sesquicentennial Celebration and Commencement over the next few weeks.

Half an hour before the 5:00 p.m. ET goal, Ian Amin '10 made a gift to put us over the 500 mark! His contribution to directly support student scholarships came moments after one from his mother, Cornelia Balsam, from Oak Park, Michigan.

Ian graduated from Hope in 2010 with a double major in French and business management. As a student he studied in Nantes, France. Since graduating, he has put both majors to work. From October of 2012 to May of 2013, Ian was a teaching assistant at Lycée Marcel Dassault in Bordeaux, France. He had a great experience and especially loved the Parisian style architecture, cooking and lifelong international friendships he formed.   

Today, Ian works in Chicago for US Foods. He works collaboratively with vendors to update contracts, inventory management and forecasting.

In honor of our Sesquicentennial and today's Scholarship Day of Giving, we would like to introduce you to our 150th donors. Don and Cecile Schoenheider are from Lake Forest, Illinois and are the parents of Jonathan Schoenheider '19, a freshman at Hope.

We just caught up with Don before boarding a flight to Michigan. When we shared with him that they were the 150th donors, he laughed and mentioned they were thinking of giving $150 in honor of Hope's anniversary, but together decided to give a little more.

The Schoenheiders give back to their local community as well. Don has been the mayor of the City of Lake Forest since being elected in 2013. As a family, they've had a tremendous Hope experience so far. Don shared that his son, Jonathan, chose Hope because of the quality of the people, campus environment and focus on faith formation. When they visited Hope, Jonathan knew "this is it!"
